Telangana CM Chandrashekar Rao announces increase in ST reservations from 6 to 10%

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasherkar Rao, in a speech in Hyderabad on Saturday, announced that reservations for Scheduled Tribes have been increased from 6% to 10% and that the policy would be implemented in the next week.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) announced that the reservations for Scheduled Tribes have been increased from four per cent to ten per cent. He added that the policy will be implemented in the next week.
The leader of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi made the announcement during a speech at the ‘tribal athmiya Sammelanam’ at the NTR Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday.
“I am very happy today. Congratulations and best wishes to all tribal and Adivasi tribes. We started Kumram Bheem Adivasi and Sewalal Banjara Bhavans at a cost of Rs 60 crore in Banjara Hills in the heart of Hyderabad city for tribals and Adivasis,” said the CM.
“To increase reservations for STs to 10 per cent, a resolution was passed in the Telangana assembly and sent to the central government. Prime Minister Modi, why don't you accept it? I am asking you with folded hands. Pass our Tribal Bill and send it to the President. The President is also an Adivasi child, so she will not stop this bill.” said KCR.
He added that there were many tribal workers, intellectuals, poets and writers who spoke about tribal problems.

“For 58 years of fighting for Telangana without caste and religion. We have achieved state. The tribal population was 6 per cent in the erstwhile state and the tribal caste has got only 5 per cent reservation. But in Telangana their numbers have been increased based on the population,” said KCR.
