In a new post on Friday, Anand Mahindra revealed that Tamil Nadu’s Idli Amma will soon “have her own house cum workspace from where she will cook and sell idlis.”
Two years ago, an elderly woman named Kamalathal, known for cooking and selling idlis for just Re 1 each in Tamil Nadu, went viral after Anand Mahindra shared her video on Twitter. An LPG connection was issued to Kamalathal also after Anand Mahindra’s tweet in 2019. In a new post on Friday, the Mahindra Group Chairman revealed that she will soon “have her own house cum workspace from where she will cook and sell idlis.” to the @MahindraRise team for understanding from Kamalathal how we can ‘invest’ in her business. She said her priority was a new home/workspace. Her story had gone viral in 2019 after Anand Mahindra shared her video and said that he will be "happy to 'invest' in her business & buy her an LPG fuelled stove." On Friday, Anand Mahindra posted Kamalathal’s video again and said, “Only rarely does one get to play a small part in someone’s inspiring story, and I would like to thank Kamalathal, better known as Idli Amma, for letting us play a small part in hers.
