Tamil Nadu Police nab woman, teen daughter for abducting infant baby from govt hospital in Coimbatore

A woman and her teenage daughter were nabbed by Tamil Nadu Police in Kerala’s Palakkad. The two had kidnapped a five-day-old baby from a government hospital in Coimbatore district.
Police officers nabbed a woman and her teenage daughter from Palakkad in Kerala on Monday, July 4. They had allegedly kidnapped a five-day-old girl from the Government Hospital in Pollachi in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district.
The woman was identified as 34-year-old Shameena. Both she and her 14-year-old daughter hail from Palakkad and are being questioned by the police.
During the early hours of Sunday, July 3, the newborn baby was abducted from the hospital. Tamil Nadu Police formed 12 special teams to trace the accused.
Based on CCTV footage from nearby places, the two women were traced to the City railway station. They had reportedly boarded a bus from Pollachi and travelled to Palakkad by train, said the police.
A special team rushed to Koduvayur near Palakkad and rescued the child. They handed over the baby to the mother, Dhivyabharathi, around 5 am on Monday.
According to the police, the ongoing interrogation is to ascertain whether the woman is involved in child trafficking.
