Supreme Court dismisses pleas challenging constitutional validity of TN land Act

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed writ pleas of 2019. A Bench led by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar rejected the pleas made by G. Mohan Rao and other petitioners, who contended that the 2019 State law and its notification should be struck down as “unconstitutional, illegal and void”. The petitioners had submitted that the Act was violative of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act of 2013.Karnataka’s Shakti scheme, which provides free travel for women on State-run buses, will turn one on June 11.
