Two RSS workers arrested for hurling a bomb at a policeman’s house in Kannur, Kerala; major tragedy averted.
Two workers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have been arrested in connection with a bomb attack on the house of a police officer attached to the Kannavam station at Cheruvanchery in Kannur, Kerala, recently.
The accused have been identified as K. Rahul, a native of Kolayad, and P. Jithin from Kakkayangad in Muzhakunnu. According to the police, Rahul is an accused in the murder of Socialist Democratic Party of India (SDPI) worker Salahudheen.
The attack targeted the residence of a Special Branch officer of the Kannavam police station. However, the bomb failed to explode.
The police said a two-member gang arrived on a motorcycle and hurled the bomb at the house before fleeing. The accused were later tracked down, with CCTV footage playing a crucial role in identifying and nabbing them.
The police said the device used was a high-intensity steel bomb, indicating the potential for serious damage had it exploded.
Further investigation is under way.
