The LX Hammer Burger drew attention for its size and pricing during the Super Bowl. It sparked mixed reactions online.
Forget the scoreline, the internet’s loudest Super Bowl takeaway was edible. A burger worth $180 (approximately Rs 16, 298) was sold at Levi’s Stadium in California has gone viral after fans shared videos of the massive LX Hammer Burger, triggering reactions ranging from awe to outright horror.
Curated by Levy, the official hospitality partner at Levi’s Stadium, this was never meant to be a regular stadium snack. Weighing 3.5 pounds and designed to serve four people, the LX Hammer Burger was billed as a “shareable spin” on a cheeseburger.
In reality, it was less burger and more gargantuan beef sandwich. Instead of a ground beef patty, the dish featured “fall-off-the-bone tender braised bone-in beef shank, roasted mirepoix demi-glace, and Point Reyes bleu cheese fondue on a house-baked brioche bun,” according to Levy.
NFL Managing Editor Jimmy Durkin, who shared a close-up of the monster online, revealed another detail that sent the internet spiralling as the price didn’t stop at $180.
With taxes included, the final cost came to $196.43 (approximately Rs 17,785) before tip. That revelation only amplified reactions, with users debating whether the burger was peak indulgence or peak absurdity.
