A reality check from UP’s Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, and Sultanpur districts reveals how farmers are doing 24x7 vigil but stray animals are still destroying standing crops.
After coming to power in 2017, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh had promised to build gaushalas to better manage stray cattle in the state. Five years later, the UP Assembly election is due in February-March, the terror of stray animals is still a big poll issue in the state. Opposition Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has also raised the issue several times.
