A spelling mistake in thousands of souvenirs manufactured to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee has grabbed everyone’s attention. Over 10,000 cups, tea sets and designer plates display a line with an awkward typo. “The Platinum Jubbly of Queen Elizabeth II,” it reads. Instead of the word “jubilee”, the items display the word “jubbly”.
The crockery featured an illustration of the Queen surrounded by her coat of arms and also the misprint. The decorative plates and crockery were meant to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign and now this mistake on these items has rendered them not worthy of sale.
Now, Wholesale Clearance UK, a wholesaler of bankrupt stock, has stepped in and is trying to sell the stock for nearly $44,000, People reported. They were approached by a Chinese manufacturing company after their fulfillment Partner in the UK decided they would not take the souvenirs due to the translation error.
“The manufacturers produced some wonderful souvenir items in an attempt to muscle in on the Queen's upcoming Platinum Jubilee but were left high and dry when their fulfillment Partner in the UK decided they would not take the souvenir stock due to a translation error. In stepped Wholesale Clearance to clear up the excess, unwanted stock,” Wholesale Clearance UK wrote on their website.
The company is selling the souvenirs as “Queens Platinum Jubliee (Jubbly) Souvenir Stock with Slight Typo Mistake”.
