Skill centre inaugurated at Dindigul Collectorate

Deputy Chief Minister inaugurates Thiranagam skill centre in Dindigul to enhance youth employability through training and guidance.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Tuesday inaugurated Thiranagam skill centre in Dindigul, via videoconference. Dindigul District Collector S. Saravanan, Mayor J. Ilamathi and others were present at the Collectorate.
The skill centre is a project of Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation which comes under Special Programme Implementation Department. According to a press release, the main objective of the skill centre was to provide career guidance, skill development, training and employment opportunities to youth.
A dedicated space was allocated for setting up the skill centre with necessary infrastructure facilities at Dindigul Collectorate. The centre was established at a cost of around ₹5.28 lakh.
The centre acts as the district-level integrated centre to address career aspirations, develop skills as per industry requirements and guide the youth towards employment.
Each skill centre acts as a one-stop service centre providing career guidance, skill development, training and access to employment opportunities at one place. The centre is managed by the District Skill Development Officer under the guidance of District Collector The centres are set up at the district headquarters with computer facilities and other basic infrastructure facilities.
In Dindigul district, certificates were issued to a total of 1,11,095 candidates who completed training in various sectors.
