Security guard arrested for posting an abusive Instagram comment on actress Renu Desai
The cyber crimes wing of the Cyberabad Police on Tuesday arrested a security guard for posting an abusive comment on a reel featuring actress Renu Desai on social media platform Instagram.
The accused, identified as Kotipalli Venkanna, was traced and taken into custody at Madhapur. According to the police, the case was registered after the accused posted an offensive comment on a reel featuring actress Renu Desai that had been shared by a news page on the platform. During the course of the probe, cyber crime officials identified the account used to post the comment and linked it to the accused.
During verification, the accused produced his mobile phone, which was used to post the comment. Further investigation is underway.
The police also issued an advisory urging social media users to exercise restraint and responsibility online, warning that posting abusive or defamatory content can invite legal action under relevant laws. Citizens were encouraged to report cyber offences through the nearest cybercrime police station or by calling the 1930 helpline.
