Samsung sold more 5G phones than its rivals in February 2022: Counterpoint
India Today
The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G emerged as the best-selling model, followed by the flagship Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21 FE, and the Galaxy A32 5G.
Samsung seems to be leading the sales chart for Android phones as the company sold more 5G smartphones than its rivals. A fresh Counterpoint report reveals that Samsung dominated the list of top 10 best-selling smartphones globally in February 2022 and the top four models in the list were from this brand.
The Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G emerged as the best-selling model, followed by the flagship Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S21 FE, and the Galaxy A32 5G. These smartphones, along with the Galaxy A22 5G, which took the tenth position, helped capture 24 percent of the global 5G Android smartphone sales.
While some of these phones were launched last year, it will be interesting to see how Samsung’s recently launched Galaxy A and Galaxy M series phones will do this year. The brand has announced a few new 5G phones at different price points with the same chipset and some of them even lack a charger in the box. Other brands like OnePlus, Realme and Xiaomi are still bundling it, apart from offering top-notch specs in the lower price segments.
Additionally, Samsung is still not offering devices with at least 33W fast charging support. The competition, on the other hand, offers 65W fast charging tech. We will have to wait and see whether the decision to remove the charger and skip some of the features works in favour of Samsung or not. The report asserts that the sales were driven by the sub-$250 smartphones with 5G capability. India and the UK were the top markets for the Galaxy A22. The device has a 90Hz display, a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, a typical 5,000mAh battery and support for Dolby Atmos audio.
The report suggests that Samsung's efforts to offer users 5G-ready devices at more affordable price points might have paid off. Surprisingly, Xiaomi’s Redmi K40 is on the eighth position in the list, which doesn’t include phones from popular brands such as OnePlus and Apple. One will find Honor, Oppo and Vivo devices in the list.

Samsung has been teasing its upcoming A-series devices since last week, without officially revealing their names. While speculation has largely pointed to the Galaxy A37 and A57, a lengthy video recently surfaced ahead of any official confirmation, revealing the key specs and pricing of the devices.
