
Russia hosts talks on Afghanistan, calls on Taliban for an inclusive government

Russia invited the Taliban and other Afghan parties for talks voicing hope they will help encourage discussions and tackle Afghanistan's challenges.
Russia hosted the third round of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan on Wednesday. Representatives of several countries, including India, were present at the meeting along with the members of the Taliban.
At the meeting, Russia called for forming a government in Afghanistan which is "really inclusive" and "fully reflects the interests of not only all ethnic groups but all political forces of the country”.

Egypt has emerged as a key back-channel mediator, establishing contact with Iran's IRGC and proposing a five-day pause in fighting to build momentum for a ceasefire, a move that appears to have nudged US President Donald Trump to drop his threat to strike Iran's power plants, The Wall Street Journal reported.
