Robbers steal over Rs 21 lakhs at gunpoint in Delhi, organise feast

Five robbers have been arrested for stealing over Rs 21 lakh at gunpoint in Delhi. The robbers also organised a bhandara using the robbed money.

Delhi police arrested five robbers for allegedly committing two robberies of over Rs 21 lakhs in PS Burari and Patel Nagar. The five accused identified as Badal, Rajender, Suraj, Anil Singh and Yogender also organised bhandara by using robbed money.

Police scanned over 300 cameras from Patel Nagar to Punjabi Bagh to arrest the robbers. Cops also recovered cash worth Rs 5.10 lakhs, two pistols, four live cartridges and a robbed bag from the possession of the accused.

The matter came to light on June 24, when a complainant, Gagan Sharma, filed a complaint with the police that he was robbed of Rs 21.8 lakhs. The victim, a registered distributor of SPAY India Technology Private Ltd, told the police that on June 24, two boys robbed him at gunpoint.

"The two robbers snatched a bag from my hand and fled the spot on a bike which was already parked there. Another man was sitting on the parked motorcycle,"the victim said in his police complaint.

Police officials scanned the CCTV footage of nearby areas and it was found that three men robbed the victim on a red-coloured motorcycle. A further police probe revealed that the criminals used to target businessmen who used to collect payment from retailers' shops as these shops usually have a huge cash flow.

The team checked CCTV footage of escape and arrival routes and over 300 cameras from Patel Nagar to Punjabi Bagh were analysed. It was revealed that the robbers committed the robbery on a stolen bike without any registration number plate. The robbers changed vehicles to avoid the detection of their escape route by police.
