BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao criticizes CM Revanth Reddy criticized for inefficiency as Telangana CM and financial mismanagement of the State
HYDERABAD
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s statement made on Monday that “no banker is ready to lend Telangana and looking at the representatives of the State as thieves” exposed his inefficiency as the chief administrator, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao has said.
“Unable to implement over 420 promises made before the Assembly elections without assessing the State’s finances, the Chief Minister is speaking ill of Telangana, terming it bankrupt and cursing its financial health. Telangana was a leading State in the country for almost 10 years in all indicators of development”, Mr. Rama Rao said addressing a press conference held in Hyderabad on Tuesday (May 6, 2025).
He recollected the BRS president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s caution to the people against believing in Delhi parties that had deceived them since 1956. Referring to Mr. Reddy’s comments, KTR said that he [Mr. Reddy] would be looked upon as thief as he was caught at a BRS MLA’s residence with ₹50 lakh cash as bribe to the legislator seeking his support to TDP candidate in the 2015 MLC election with an ultimate aim to topple the then TRS government.
He sought to know if the Congress government’s priority is to organise Miss World pageant instead of settling the retirement benefits to thousands of employees who attained superannuation. Besides, the Congress party had promised moon to the RTC employees but now warning them against staging protests seeking pay revision.
No Chief Minister of a State in the independent India had cursed his State as much as Mr. Revanth Reddy did in the last 18 months, Mr. Rama Rao said adding that revenue surplus of Telangana in 2014 — when TRS came to power — was ₹369 crore and it was ₹4,882 crore when Congress formed the government in 2023.
He noted that the revenue receipts in 2013-14 were ₹51,000 crore and in 2023-24 they were ₹2,16,567 crore. The Congress party lied about debt and repayment of loans. It cited different figures. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) statistics had a different story to tell – that the repayments were much lesser than what was being claimed by the Congress.
