Realme announces India launch date for 9 Pro Plus, 9 Pro 5G phones

Realme 9 Pro Plus and Realme 9 Pro are coming to India later this month and they are going to bring some firsts for Realme phones, such as a heart rate sensor and cameras with OIS.

Realme 9 Pro+ and Realme 9 Pro will be launching in India on February 16. Realme has announced the launch dates for its next mid-range phones, which will be global-first, meaning they will be launched in markets outside of China before China. The Realme 9 Pro+ will be the company’s first “Plus” phone in the number series, and a bit better in terms of features than the regular “Pro” model. The company has already revealed a few things about it and one of them is a heart rate sensor, a first on a Realme phone.

“The realme 9 Pro series 5G will come with powerful 5G processors, a mesmerising light shift design with stunning color change effect and will sport a flagship camera in the mid-range segment,” said Realme. Thankfully, we know that the processor inside the 9 Pro+ will be MediaTek Dimensity 920, the cameras will use the Sony IMX766 sensor with image stabilisation, and a GT 2 Pro-inspired design on the back.

Realme has announced that its event on February 16 will begin at 1.30 pm. It will be a virtual event, and everyone can watch it via live streams on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. Realme will announce the specifications, price, and availability of the 9 Pro series at the event.

Although the official price is something Realme will out at the event later this month, a recent leak revealed what the 9 Pro+ and 9 Pro will cost in India. While the 9 Pro+ may start at around Rs 20,999, the 9 Pro may come with a starting price of Rs 16,999.

If we go by what Realme has officially said, the 9 Pro+ will have a Dimensity 920 processor, an optical heart rate sensor on the display, flagship Sony IMX766 sensor at the back with OIS, and support for 5G. The details of the Realme 9 Pro are not official yet.

Now, coming to the leaks, we know a lot more than what came from the horse’s mouth. For instance, leaks suggested the 9 Pro+ will come with a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It is not, however, clear if it will support adaptive switching. The phone’s processor will be paired with at least 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The customised 50-megapixel Sony sensor with optical image stabilisation is likely to be accompanied by 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel sensors. Inside the punch-hole on the display will be a 16-megapixel camera, per the report. And for battery, the Realme 9 Pro+ may feature a 4500mAh unit with 65W fast charging, the report said.
