Ranbir Kapoor reveals Brahmastra reported budget is all wrong. So what's the truth?

Is Brahmastra made on a budget of Rs 400 crore or Rs 650 crore? With an over Rs 350-crore earning, is the film a hit? Lead actor Ranbir Kapoor finally breaks silence.

Brahmastra has taken the box office by storm even as the economics behind the film made headlines. Many have claimed that the box office collection figures shared by the makers are inflated. In addition, even though trade analysts have declared the film a hit, the Rs 410 crore budget of Brahmastra remains a concern. Now, lead actor Ranbir Kapoor finally throws some light on the economics of the film. He also revealed that Brahmastra's reported budget is all wrong. Brahmastra, starring Ranbir, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy and Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo, released in theatres on September 9.

What is the budget of Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva? In a recent interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Ranbir Kapoor revealed that all budget figures shared on social media are false. Ranbir also dismissed reports that are questioning the movie’s commercial success. Ranbir further added that the budget for the movie that's being shared on social media is not just for Part 1 but covers the upcoming instalments as well.

"These days we are reading a lot where people are discussing the budget of the film [Brahmastra]. People are saying this much is the budget and this much is the recovery. But Brahmastra is something unique. Its budget is not just for this one movie but for the whole of the trilogy," said Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir also clarified that Brahmastra is a VFX-heavy project and the investment was in order to build assets for future projects. So, Brahmastra does not follow the typical economics of a movie. "The figures that are floating around are wrong," added Ranbir Kapoor.

Meanwhile, Brahmastra is wreaking havoc at the box office both in India and abroad. In 10 days, Brahmastra collected Rs 360 crore worldwide. On its second Monday too, Brahmastra continues its dream run at the box office. Brahmastra earned Rs 4.25 to Rs 4.75 crore (nett) in India on Monday, taking its total India collection to Rs 212 crore. Although the numbers are likely to see a dip this week, the Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer is likely to cross the Rs 225-crore mark this weekend.
