A group of student organisations have called for a ‘Bihar Bandh’ on January 28 over alleged irregularities in the Railway Recruitment Board's examination process. Railway job aspirants have been protesting against the same for four days now.
All Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) parties of the Opposition have announced their support for the bandh. This includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress, CPI and CPI(M). Jan Adhikar Party chief Pappu Yadav also did the same.
In their statement, the Grand Alliance parties demanded that all FIRs registered against protesting students or coaching institutes be withdrawn immediately.
Now, parties of the ruling National Democratic Alliance - Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) have also extended their support for the bandh.
HAM spokesperson Danish Rizwan said, “HAM chief Jitan Ram Manjhi has always been with the students and youth. The HAM morally supports the Bihar Bandh.”
“FIRs against teachers can further provoke students for undeclared agitations in Bihar. The time has come for the governments to talk on unemployment and come out with a solution”, Jitan Ram Manjhi said on Thursday.
Similarly, VIP’s president Mukesh Sahni said, “We support the Bihar Bandh call. In this fight, we stand completely with the students.”
