
Pune likely to receive moderate rainfall from September 17-18, ghat areas still on alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rainfall, along with generally cloudy skies in Pune from September 17-18.
The weather department has forecast moderate rainfall and cloudy skies in Pune from September 17-18. Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a heavy downpour for September 14.
With the weakening of the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal and its movement towards the East of Madhya Pradesh, the rainfall activities in Maharashtra might reduce from September 16.
While the weather department has predicted moderate rainfall for September 17-18, the Ghat areas will remain on alert.

As per IMD's seven-day forecast, Pune is likely to witness generally cloudy skies with moderate rain till September 20. The maximum temperature is also expected to rise by 2-4 degrees in the coming days.
Pune recorded a minimum temperature of 20.7 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 24.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
Last week, on Sunday, several parts of Pune witnessed heavy rainfall, resulting in waterlogging, power cuts and more.

The matter pertains to a petition filed by one Nikhil Kumar Punia, who was born into an upper-caste Hindu family but supposedly converted to Buddhism later. He, along with another General Category candidate, has sought minority reservation benefits for admission to a Buddhist medical college on grounds of their purported conversion.
