Priyanka Chopra has now responded to comedienne Rosie O'Donnell's apology for calling her a 'Chopra wife'. The actress asked Rosie to google her name and not refer to her as 'someone' or 'wife'.
Comedienne Rosie O'Donnell recently met Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas at a restaurant. However, it soon turned awkward as Rosie mistook Priyanka for author Deepak Chopra's daughter. However, when she realised that Priyanka is a global icon, she immediately apologised for the same on social media. And now, Priyanka Chopra has offered her some advice on how to correctly make a sincere apology. Reacting to Rosie's apology video, the actress said that she should google her name and not refer to her as 'someone' or 'wife'.
Rosie O’Donnell had assumed that Priyanka Chopra was the daughter of author Deepak Chopra. When she realised her gaffe, she went online and posted an apology video. Rosie had referred to the actress as ‘the Chopra wife’ and ‘someone Chopra’. In her response, Priyanka took to her Instagram stories and wrote, “Hi everyone. Some thoughts. I have never taken myself so seriously to think everyone would know who I am, or my work for that matter. But if you wanted to make a public apology for a very awkward private encounter, I think probably best to take the time to google my name before doing it or even try to reach out directly (sic)."
Priyanka added, "We ALL deserve to be respected for our unique individuality and not be referred to as ‘someone’ or ‘wife’ especially in a sincere apology. If we can learn to respect our differences in an authentic way, the world we raise our children in. will be amazing. Also PS As I’ve said before, not all Chopras are related to the great Deepak, just as not all Smith’s are related to the legendary Will Smith (sic).”

Narrating the awkward incident in detail, Rosie said, "Seated next to us was Nick Jonas and his wife, someone Chopra Which I always assumed was Deepak Chopra's daughter. So when I said, 'Hi Nick Jonas, you were great in Kingdom, and, 'Hi (Priyanka) I know your dad'. She goes, 'You do? Who's my dad?' And I go, 'Deepak'. And she goes, 'No... and Chopra's a common name (sic)."
In the second video that she shared on her Instagram handle, Rosie apologised to Priyanka Chopra. " People thought she was rude but she was not rude, it was just awkward. She's apparently a very well known actress and more famous than him (Nick) people were saying. So I'm sure it felt weird to her to begin with. Anyway, Priyanka is her name. And I just want to apologise to her and to everyone who thought it was inappropriate of me," added O'Donnell.
