Rising cost of cotton, the basic raw material, pushes up yarn price

Steep hike in prices of raw materials in the last few months is emerging as a major issue in the textile clusters across Tamil Nadu, which will go to polls next month. Tamil Nadu, the textile capital of the country, employs directly almost 60 lakh people and has clusters across the textile value chain -- spinning, weaving, processing, and garment making.
