Madurai Collector inaugurates voter awareness campaign
Madurai Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar inaugurated voter awareness campaigns in the district on Tuesday.
A signature campaign was conducted at the Collectorate. Government officials participated in the event. Following the signature campaign, the Collector inaugurated an awareness campaign at Sri Meenakshi Government Arts College for Women. A character named ‘Sabanayagi’ was created to spread awareness. As part of the event, a drawing and painting competition was conducted.
The Collector chaired a consultation meeting with bankers, pawn brokers, owners of marriage halls, meeting halls, printing press and lodges with regard to the upcoming Assembly elections.
The owners of marriage halls and meeting halls were instructed to submit details of events conducted on their premises along with copies of the invitations to the Assistant Returning Officer on a daily basis.
Under no circumstances the venue should be permitted for distributing gift items to voters. If political meetings are to be conducted, permission should be granted only after verifying the requisite authorisation letter obtained from the Election Officer.
Banks should ensure that cash-carrying vehicles display a QR Code generated through the ESMS application. Any cash deposit or withdrawal exceeding ₹10 lakh must be reported. Any transaction exceeding ₹1 lakh in a candidate’s account should be notified to election authorities.
