In the wake of the rise of South films, the industry is gearing up for more big-budget releases. From Ponniyin Selvan to Godfather, here's all you need to know.

The world is currently witnessing the rise and rise of South films. While Bollywood is happy by merely crossing the Rs 100 crore mark, Rs 200 crore in most cases, South films such as RRR, Pushpa, and KGF are touching a thousand! This year, South films led by the who’s who of the industry went on to create record-breaking box office numbers. In fact, it all started with Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Pushpa, which is no less than a cult. On the other hand, Arjun is on the cover of India Today Magazine July 2022 issue. After his mammoth success with Pushpa, South is ready to conquer yet another year with many big-budget projects, all set for flight.

Well, the South film industry is in full form with back-to-back hits in 2022 and is geared for more. An array of big-budget films are about to release and we are sure, yet another South film revolution is on the way. Some of the most prominent ones include Mani Ratnam-directorial Ponniyin Selvan, starring Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and others. Apart from that, we have Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger, and Chiranjeevi’s Godfather which stars Salman Khan in a cameo. Vikrant Rona starring Kichcha Sudeep, Prabhas’ Salaar, Adipurush and Project K. Apart from these, we also have Rajinikanth’s Jailer.

Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 kept the cash register ringing for days after its release. The film has also gone on to become of the most successful films of the year. While the ending of the film hinted towards a third part, we are now waiting for an official announcement. India Today TV, during a special programme, ran a throwback interview of Yash where the actor had said South films, especially the KGF films, have never been about the budget. A lot of hard work goes into the scripting.

Apart from this, Pushpa: The Rise, led by Allu Arjun was a gigantic success. All that we now want to know is if the actor will ever make his foray in Bollywood. The South superstar, who is the cover of India Today Magazine, shared, “Acting in Hindi is a little out of my comfort zone for now, but once there is a requirement, I’ll go all-out.” Will he or won't he? Only time will tell.
