Police forced us to cremate her body at night, says family of gang rape victim in Rajasthan

The family of the woman who was allegedly gang-raped and murdered on April 23 in Rajasthan's Dausa alleged that the police pressurised them to cremate her body at night.
The family of a woman who was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Rajasthan's Dausa has accused the administration of pressurising them into cremating her body.
The woman, a resident of Jaipur, was on her way to Dausa when she was allegedly kidnapped, gang-raped and murdered on April 23.
The woman's husband told India Today that the police created pressure on the family to cremate her on the night of the incident. "We even told the police that we didn't want the cremation to happen during the night but they did not budge."
The family has also alleged that initially, the police had claimed that five accused were arrested in the case but later backtracked under political pressure and claimed that only two people were behind the alleged gang rape and murder and that they had wrongly named the other three.
"There was pressure upon us from the police. There were only 20 family members present at night during the cremation, whereas there were around 50 to 60 policemen. The police told us that they would not leave until she was cremated. They forced us to cremate her during the night itself... Some of the accused are said to be close to health minister Prasadi Lal Meena. We want the accused to be punished, hanged to death," the brother-in-law of the victim said.
The woman had gone missing on April 23. The family filed a complaint on April 24 and her body was found on the same night in a well in Dausa.
During investigations, the police found CCTV footage that revealed the woman had taken a lift in a car and was allegedly kidnapped, gang-raped and murdered.
