After a week of proceedings that was marked by the resolution against Speaker Om Birla being defeated and Opposition protests demanding a discussion on various issue, Parliament is all set to convene for the week on Monday (March 16, 2026).

The Lok Sabha is slated to discuss and vote on the Demands for Grants for 2026-2027 for the Union Railways Ministry and the Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Meanwhile, in the Rajya Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will move The Appropriation Bill, 2026, to be returned. The Bill was passed by Lok Sabha on Friday (March 13, 2026).

The INDIA bloc MPs submitted a notice on Friday (March 13, 2026) seeking the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. 130 Lok Sabha MPs and 63 Rajya Sabha MPs have signed the notice. Seven charges are listed against the CEC in the notice, ranging from “partisan and discriminatory conduct in office” to “deliberate obstruction of investigation of electoral fraud” and “mass disenfranchisement.”
Mr. Birla on Sunday (March 15, 2026) expressed “deep concern” over showing of banners, placards, posters and use of certain language inside the House by some MPs and urged leaders of all political parties to ensure discipline and high ethical conduct among their members.
