Light to moderate rain likely in Hyderabad on March 16, says IMD

IMD forecasts light to moderate rain in Hyderabad on March 16, with possible thundershowers and gusty winds in the evening.

Hyderabad and its neighbouring areas are likely to receive light to moderate rain on Monday (March 16, 2026) according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

In an impact-based forecast issued on Monday (March 16) morning, the IMD said the city is expected to experience a partly cloudy sky through the day. “Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds are likely to occur in parts of the city towards the evening or night,” the forecast stated.

The expected change in weather to rising temperatures and increased moisture in the atmosphere. Dharma Raju, scientist at the IMD Hyderabad Centre, said the gradual increase in temperatures is creating favourable conditions for localised weather developments. “As temperatures rise, the atmosphere becomes unstable, which can trigger thermal activity in some areas,” he said.
