Two suspects arrested in Hyderabad for the murder of AR constable Paruvula Sudheer Kumar after a violent altercation.
Two persons were arrested within six hours for the murder of an Armed Reserve constable at Chilkanagar under Uppal police station limits on the night of March 15.
The deceased was identified as Paruvula Sudheer Kumar, 32, an AR constable and resident of RTC Colony in Chengicherla. The accused were identified as Banothu Santosh alias Santhu, 28, a bike-taxi rider from Uppal, and Podishetty Tarun, 22, a car driver from Uppal.
According to the police, a complaint was lodged by Kanupur Srikanth, 30, a hotel worker from Medipally. He told the police that at around 8:37 p.m., he received a call from Prithviraj alias Tillu informing him that a quarrel had broken out between his brother-in-law, Sudheer Kumar, and Santosh at Chilkanagar. When he rushed to the spot, he found Sudheer Kumar lying on the road in a pool of blood.
Police said the accused and the deceased were friends for several years and had previous disputes. Three days before the incident, Sudheer Kumar had invited the accused to his brother in law’s housewarming ceremony. However, he allegedly did not respond to their phone calls on the day of the function, leading to a verbal altercation over phone and messaging applications.
On the evening of March 15 at around 7:30 p.m., Santosh and Tarun allegedly called Sudheer Kumar to the Chilkanagar ground. The victim went there along with his friend Imran Khan on a motorcycle. When Sudheer questioned Santosh over abusive remarks, Santosh allegedly took out a knife and stabbed him. As Sudheer attempted to escape, both the accused chased him and stabbed him multiple times, causing his death on the spot.
The accused fled from the scene after the attack. Police said the two were apprehended on March 16 during the course of an investigation. A knife allegedly used in the offence, two mobile phones belonging to the accused, a motorcycle and clothes worn by the accused were seized.
