Opposition slams Rajasthan govt over fuel surcharge on electricity

The Rajasthan government's decision to levy a fuel surcharge on electricity has invited criticism from the Opposition in the state.
The Opposition in Rajasthan is up in arms against the government of CM Ashok Gehlot. Leaders of the opposition in the state say that the Congress dispensation reduced the VAT on petrol and diesel while announcing a fuel surcharge on electricity of 33 paise per unit.
A decision to levy a fuel surcharge on electricity is expected to bring an additional burden of more than Rs 500 crore on consumers.
