
Omicron surge in Europe: WHO warns of 'storm' pushing healthcare to the brink

WHO Europe regional director Hans Kluge said that 'a storm is coming' and it is likely to push the already-stressed healthcare systems in nations to the brink.
Sounding the alarm on the Omicron variant spreading in Europe the World Health Organisation has said that “a storm is coming” on the back of a “significant surge” in Covid cases across Europe.
The Omicron variant is already dominant in several nations, including the US where it accounts for over 73% of the total Covid infections.
