
OMC to establish 5 schools, skill academy in its mining areas

OMC plans to build five schools and a skill academy in its mining locations.
The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has stated that it will be establishing five model schools and a skill academy in its operation area. To set up five ‘Mining Adarsha Vidyalayas’, the OMC has inked an agreement with the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan in addition to signing an MoU with the Department of Technical Education and Training to set up the Skill Academy at ITI, Koira.
To establish the Adarsha Vidyalayas in its mining areas, the corporation is going to spend Rs 208 crore in addition to investing Rs 30 crore each year to run these institutions, as told by officials.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik went on to remark that OMC has pioneered many developmental initiatives that have brought positive changes to improving people’s quality of life.
He added, “Its efforts in supporting the state in its fight against Covid-19 pandemic, are highly commendable. Be it sports, health, education or be it periphery development, the OMC has always put its focused efforts for excellence.”
