Odisha government launches Project 'Kiran' to support women prisoners amid Covid-19

Project 'KIRAN' has been launched by the Directorate of prisons and Correctional services in collaboration with an NGO to provide free legal aid, rehabilitation and mental health counselling to women inmates.
In a first, Project ‘KIRAN’, a help desk for woman prisoners has been launched in Odisha to provide free legal aid, rehabilitation and mental health counselling. The project was initiated by the Directorate of prisons and Correctional services in support of Odisha-based NGO MAADHYAM to help women prisoners. 'Kiran' project was first inaugurated at Special Jail Bhubaneswar and Circle Jail, Choudhwar, Cuttack by Santosh Kumar Upadhyay, DG Prisons & Correctional service in the presence of Madhyam Director Maheekshita Mishra on Tuesday and will continue to form the help desk in other districts jails across the state by October.More Related News
