Odisha approached 5,000 COVID-19 infections per day when the State reported a jump of over 1,000 cases in 24 hours to 4,714 new cases on Sunday.
In one day, 4,714 persons tested positive for coronavirus registering 28.13% growth in cases. Khordha district, epicentre of the third wave, reported 1,619 cases — 34.34% reported on Sunday.
The State has 16,117 active positive cases, 15,640 of whom are being treated in home isolation.

A massive fire at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub in North Goa killed several people, including staff and tourists, exposing severe safety lapses and illegal construction. Authorities have filed an FIR against the club’s owner and general manager, while a magisterial inquiry has been ordered to investigate the tragedy.
