
Novaya Gazeta editor attacked on train in Russia, smeared in paint oil

Editor-in-chief of Novella Gazeta Dmitry Muratov was attacked on a train in Russia.
The editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta, Nobel laureate Dmitry Muratov, was attacked on a train from Moscow to Samara in Russia and doused with oil paint and acetone.
"They poured oil paint with acetone in the compartment. My eyes are burning terribly. [I was on] A train from Moscow to Samara. Oil smell all over the carriage. I'll try to wash myself. He [the attacker] shouted: ‘Muratov, here's one for our boys’,” the head of Novaya Gazeta said.
Novaya Gazeta is an independent Russian newspaper known for its critical and investigative coverage of Russian political and social affairs. Earlier, several journalists of the publication were murdered for their reporting on certain issues.
Muratov was awarded the Nobel Prize for the protection of the freedom of expression of people.

Leon Panetta said Iran war was not an unexpected risk. He pointed out that for years, US security officials have known Iran could disrupt global oil supplies by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this was a well-known danger, but one that appears to have been overlooked in the current conflict.
