No honorarium for mid-day meal cooks in Uttar Pradesh; economic crisis worsens

The mid-day meal cooks in Uttar Pradesh have not been receiving salaries for several months now.

The crisis of honorarium has deepened for women who cook mid-day meals for children studying in Uttar Pradesh council schools. These women are awaiting an honorarium for the last several months.

More than 18 lakh children study in 1,68,768 schools of UP, for which more than 3.95 lakh cooks are serving. When the laborers get Rs 350-400 per day as wages, they get only Rs 50. At present due to non-payment of honorarium for 8 months, there is a crisis in the families of these women.
