Yes, its back! This time only as Nissan Z, minus the numbers, but with lots of horsepower under its belt coupled to a manual and an automatic gearbox. The new Nissan Z comes with a 3.0-litre V6 unit that puts out more power than any other Z’s from the past. With 400bhp and 475Nm of peak torque under the hood, the new Nissan Z made its global debut at a special event in New York this past week, and will only be available for the US market. However, the quickest you can get your hands on this Z will not be before 2023. Nissan will announce details of the new Z for the Japan market, known as the Fairlady Z, later this year. The original Z was built to bring the joy and excitement of sports car ownership to as many people as possible. It feels new and modern, yet familiar, and according to the company, the new Nissan Z comes with a retuned chassis, cooling, suspension and steering to support the driver’s intentions. The rear-wheel drive Nissan vehicle also features an advanced launch assist control system with the 6-speed manual unit that helps deliver smooth acceleration from a stopped position. The new, optional 9-speed automatic transmission offers direct and quick response thanks to its wide gear ratios. Nissan engineers have worked overtime to enhance the body rigidity of the new Z, while the electronic power steering with rack assist and a strong mechanical feel and wider front tires help increase cornering performance up to 13 per cent from its predecessor.
