NIA special court sends Chhota Shakeel’s aides to judicial custody

The NIA special court sent two aides of Chhota Shakeel’s arrested in connection to Dawood Ibrahim's D-company to judicial custody on Friday.
The special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has sent the two aides of gangster Chhota Shakeel, Arif Abubakar Shaikh and his brother Shabbir Abubakar Shaikh to judicial custody on Friday. They were arrested for allegedly handling the illegal activities and financial transactions of the outlawed D-company, controlled by fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
The NIA produced the two accused before special judge Prashant Sitre and did not seek further custody of the two.
The two were arrested on May 12 after the NIA began raids in connection with a case filed against fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim. They were involved in handling D Company's illegal activities and terrorist financing in the western suburbs of Mumbai. The special NIA court had sent them to NIA custody till May 20.

The NIA had alleged that Dawood’s henchman, fugitive gangster Chhota Shakeel was involved in financing activities inciting terrorism and targeting political leaders in India.
The NIA also said that Dawood’s gang was involved in arms smuggling, narcotic terrorism, money laundering, circulating fake currency and unauthorised possession of assets. The agency also alleged the gang was involved in the acquisition of key assets for raising terror funds and working in active collaboration with terrorist organisations including Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Al Qaeda.
