Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan lays foundation for BT road in tribal hamlets, prioritizing welfare and development.
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has said that the NDA Alliance government is committed to the welfare of tribal people as part of which it is laying roads to the interior hamlets to save them from the hassle of carrying pregnant women and sick persons in ‘dolis’.
The Deputy Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of a BT road, to be taken up at an estimated cost of ₹2.12 crore, at Pedapadu village of Dumbriguda mandal in Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district on Monday. Addressing a large gathering of tribals, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said that he was moved after seeing the troubles of the tribal people carrying the sick in ‘dolis’ due to the lack of roads. ‘‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the ‘PM Gram Sadak Yojana’ and taking a cue from it, I approached Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and he readily agreed and sanctioned ₹49 crore for construction of roads in the tribal hamlets even before the Central funds were released,’‘ he said.
While only 90 habitations were provided with roads during 2019-24 by the YSRCP government, in nine months after assuming power, the NDA government had sanctioned ₹1,000 crore for the provision of basic amenities in remote tribal areas.
The Deputy Chief Minister explained that under the ‘Adavi Thalli Bata’ programme roads, drains, schools, drinking water, health centres and Anganwadi centres would be constructed. The development works would change the face of the tribal areas.
Pangi Madhuri apprised the Deputy CM of their travails, in the absence of basic amenities, through a memorandum. She sought the construction of a bridge across Chaparai gedda.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan promised to come out with a solution in two months as a bridge should be constructed to solve the problems of the tribal people while promoting tourism. He said that though the tribal people had not voted for the NDA candidates, the Alliance government had taken upon itself the task of developing the tribal areas. He appealed to the tribals to ensure that the NDA flags fluttered in the tribal areas by the next elections. The NDA rule should be continued for at least 15 years in the State to ensure development, he said.
Earlier, tribal people gave a warm welcome to the Deputy CM with Dhimsa dance, songs in their language (Kodhi), ‘harathi’ and a garland. Mr. Pawan trekked to the village.
