The Karnataka government will discuss with officials the possibility of creating a portal for unemployed youth to share their details and access job opportunities in micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), Minister for Small Industries and Public Enterprises Sharanabasappa Darshanapur said in the Legislative Council on Tuesday.
Replying to Congress member Ramoji Gowda, the Minister said that currently there was no proposal before the department to launch an MSME employment portal. However, he said a meeting involving officials and the member would be convened to deliberate on the issue and consider the proposal.
He also clarified that the department does not have any scheme to provide incentives to MSMEs for hiring local unemployed candidates through government-backed digital platforms.
Earlier, Mr. Ramoji Gowda said MSMEs provide employment to a large number of people, but information on available jobs in the sector is not easily accessible.
He noted that private online portals charge substantial fees for registration and urged the government to create a dedicated platform where job seekers can upload their profiles.
Such a portal, he said, would help industries identify suitable candidates while offering job aspirants a transparent and accessible avenue for employment opportunities.
