
Nagaland schools shut for Classes 1 to 8, board exams to go ahead

The Nagaland government has decided to shut schools for Classes 1 to 8. The Nagaland board exams will however continue amidst Covid-19 restrictions.
In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, on Tuesday, the Nagaland government ordered the closure of all the schools in the state, including the residential ones, for students of Classes 1 to 8 with immediate effect. The order issued by Nagaland Chief Secretary J Alam on Monday states, “In view of the steep rise in Covid-19 cases in the country, and the urgent need for taking measures for preventing the spread of Covid-19 in the state, the undersigned in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 22 (2) (b) and Section 22 (2) (h) of the Disaster Management Act. 2005, in the capacity as the Chairman, State Executive Committee, hereby orders the closure of all the schools in the state, including the residential Schools, for students of Class 1 (one) to Class 8 (eight), with immediate effect till further orders.
