More than 300 schools have reopened in Covid-19 free areas in Mizoram for the new academic session.
The Mizoram government has allowed the reopening of over 300 schools in Covid-19 free areas for the new academic session 2021-22. On August 8, 2021, the state government issued new guidelines for Covid-19 and allowed the re-opening of schools in those areas where there were no active cases of Covid-19. The school education department had on August 9 issued an order allowing the re-opening of schools for primary to higher secondary level in Covid-19 free towns and villages subject to prior consultation with deputy commissioners. The order states that the SOPs issued by the department will be strictly followed by the schools for the safety of the students, staff, and non-teaching staff members. School Education department director James Lalrinchhana told PTI that at least 376 schools in seven districts, including Aizawl district, have been allowed to re-open for the new academic session 2021-2022.
