Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria urges adherence to Lord Mahavira's principles for achieving lasting world peace during his birth anniversary celebration.
“If everyone follows the principles of truth, non-violence and non-attachment that Lord Mahavira taught for the welfare of humanity, peace will prevail throughout the world. Let us all follow his ideals for lasting world peace,” Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said here on Sunday.
He was speaking after inaugurating a programme organized at Mahavira Bhavan on the occasion of Janma Kalyanaka, Lord Mahavira’s birth anniversary.
“Today, there is an atmosphere of unrest all over the world. This is not natural; it is due to human greed. Over 2,624 years ago, Lord Mahavira gave a universal message for the welfare of humanity. That message is not only for Jains. It is for all humanity. Being a Jain is very simple. Those who follow the principles and doctrines of Mahavira, automatically become Jains,” he said.

“We should stay away from ego, anger and attachment. We should control our minds. Then we can all become like Mahavira. India is showing the world the path to peace and universal humanism. It is developing a sense of kinship with all nations. During the COVID-19 crisis, India saved the lives of people the world over, by finding a vaccine and distributing it free to the entire world. Indian scientists have conducted several experiments aimed at ensuring human welfare,” he said.
He felicitated KLE Society honorary chairman Prabhakar Kore and lauded his contribution to the fields of education and healthcare.
