Tramcar in Kolkata has been converted into a restaurant near Mother Wax Museum in Newtown.
Trams are a crucial part of the history of West Bengal. For years, it had been a mode of transportation in Kolkata, but with advancement in the field of transportation, the tram had begun to lose its relevance with fewer passengers boarding it.
Restoring the glory of the tramcars, the West Bengal government has refurbished the tramcar and converted it into a 20-seater restaurant.
As per the report by ANI, a new tramcar restaurant has been built near Mother Wax Museum in Newtown, Kolkata.
The restaurant, which has been developed by Newtown Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA), will serve delicious street food such as Indian, Kolkata Chinese food and more.
The tramcar restaurant will be open from 12 pm to 9 pm. Designed with a feel of old Kolkata, the area near the tram restaurant has cartoons painted on pillars and posters of old movies that have been pasted on lamp posts.
As per ANI, Shweta Mehta, a Kolkata resident, said, "During my childhood days, I used to insist that my mother allow me to board the tram for fun sake. After sitting inside this tram compartment, it brings back old memories. This is an amazing feeling. It's surreal."

It has prompted a policy shift mandating a switch from LPG to piped natural gas (PNG) where available. With supply constraints looming, the government is fast-tracking pipelines and pushing a nationwide transition to strengthen energy security.
