The lyrical video of Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse from KD: The Devil has sparked controversy online, with criticism centred on its lyrics, visuals and portrayal of women. Director Prem has responded, defending the song's use of metaphor and expressing confidence in the Censor Board.
Calling the criticism “misplaced”, KD: The Devil director Prem has responded to the backlash surrounding the song Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse, urging audiences to “not judge” it before watching the full video.
PREM REACTS TO ROW
Reacting to the outrage, Prem defended the song’s intent and asked viewers to wait for context. “If one’s angle of view is right, they won’t take this song the wrong way. Why is it that whenever a woman is involved, people assume the worst?” he told Bangalore Times.
He further pointed out that releasing a lyrical video ahead of the full track is a common promotional strategy. “People are reacting without watching the actual video or understanding the context,” Prem said, adding that he is open to criticism, but only after audiences have seen the complete version.
CONCERNING LYRICS
Addressing concerns about the lyrics, Prem said the song is built on metaphors and wordplay. “The entire song revolves around the ‘bottle’. I can’t keep repeating that word – it loses its charm. The visuals will make it clearer,” he explained.
