The screening of Vijay's Jana Nayagan has been postponed again after CBFC revising committee members did not attend. The film's release remains uncertain amid ongoing certification delays.
The screening of Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan for the revising committee of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been pushed again. According to reports, the members of the revising committee did not show up for the screening. It is said that the makers of Jana Nayagan were waiting till 6 pm for an update regarding the screening, but ended up with no response.
As per news reports in DT Next and The Week, there is no board member in Chennai's CBFC office after S Ve Shekhar's tenure came to an end recently. Jeevitha Rajasekhar from Hyderabad and Nagabharana from Karnataka were supposed to travel to Chennai for the screening.
However, they did not show up for the screening of Jana Nayagan either. The makers of Vijay's film did not receive any response from the board about the cancelled screening or the rescheduling.
With this, the release of Jana Nayagan still remains uncertain.
Earlier, the screening of Vijay's film was scheduled to happen on March 9. But, it was postponed to March 17 after a member of the revising committee fell ill.
Jana Nayagan, billed as Vijay's final film before his full-time political entry, was slated for a grand release on January 9. However, the film was postponed indefinitely after the non-issuance of a censor certificate by the CBFC.
