Karnataka activist murder: He went out to buy diapers for baby, says wife of accused Kashif

The Karnataka Police have arrested three people in connection with the murder case of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha.

At least three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Bajrang Dal activist, Harsha, in Shivamogga district of Karnataka. Two of the arrested individuals have been identified as Kashif and Nadeem.

India Today spoke to the wife of one of the accused after the police made arrests in connection with the case.

Kashif’s wife, Mohsina, said that on the day the Bajrang Dal activist was murdered, her husband went out at 8 pm, saying that he will get pampers (diapers) for the baby. But he came after 11 pm, Mohsina said.

“I asked him where he was, he said was with friends. Later, the police came and picked him up,” Mohsina told India Today.

Kashif, who works as a lorry driver, is one of the accused arrested in connection with the murder of Harsha. The death of the Bajrang Dal activist has ignited a political storm in the state, with Karnataka minister Eshwarappa alleging that Muslim goons were involved in the murder. He accused Congress’s DK Shivakumar of having “encouraged the Muslim goons”.

However, DK Shivakumar denied any connection to the murder and sought minister Eshwarappa's sacking. He also dismissed any speculation of the murder being connected to the ongoing hijab row in Karnataka.
