After confirming the killings of two senior Iranian security officials, Tehran responded on Wednesday (March 18, 2026) with renewed missile and drone attacks on its Gulf Arab neighbours and Israel. Israel’s medical service said two people were killed in Ramat Gan, a district east of Tel Aviv. Several explosions were also reported from Dubai.
In a major blow to the Islamic Republic’s leadership, Israel on Tuesday (March 17, 2026) announced the killing of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Gen. Gholam Reza Soleimani, the head of the Revolutionary Guard’s all-volunteer Basij.

Meanwhile, the United States military said on Tuesday (March 17, 2026) that it targeted sites along Iran’s coastline near the Strait of Hormuz because Iranian anti-ship missiles posed a risk to international shipping there.
A projectile struck the premises of Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant on Tuesday (March 17, 2026) evening with no damage to the plant or injuries to staff reported, Iran has told the U.N. nuclear watchdog International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
