The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has been co-featured in the Guinness World Records for the Largest Electric Bicycle Delivery, marking a milestone in India’s push for sustainable mobility.
The record was achieved under the E-Cycle programme, a large-scale electric bicycle distribution initiative carried out in collaboration with EMotorad, the Kuppam Area Development Authority (KADA), the District Collectorate of Chittoor, and the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
The delivery event was organised by the Andhra Pradesh government through KADA in the Kuppam constituency. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu formally presented the Guinness World Records certificate at the event.
The initiative focused on promoting low-carbon and sustainable local transport. IIT Kanpur participated as the technical partner through its Kuppam Net Zero Constituency Project, offering technical guidance and planning support to ensure the programme’s execution.
Two IIT Kanpur alumni played a key role in coordinating the effort.
Hari Shankar, consultant to the Net Zero project, and Vikas Marmat, Project Director at KADA, were closely involved in planning and implementation. IIT Kanpur was represented at the event by the project’s principal investigators, Manoj K. Tiwari and Rajeev Jindal.
