Hyderabad University protest | Police lathi charge at UoH campus to prevent students from entering 400 acres land in Kancha Gachibowli
Tensions escalated in University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus on Wednesday (April 2, 2025) as police resorted to a lathi charge to prevent students from entering 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli. At least 20 students sustained injuries during the incident.
The students were allegedly heading toward the site where clearance work was underway. “We wanted to inspect the land as some university departments fall within the auctioned area. However, before we could reach, the police lathi-charged us. Around 20-30 students were injured, with two in critical condition,” said one of the students.
This incident occurred amid ongoing protests by various student union groups. Earlier in the day, protestors organised a march from the Students’ Canteen to the East Campus, intensifying the demonstrations.
