Having developed capabilities for forging and machining, the engineering units in the region are in a position to tap the business opportunities of the ICF. They now emphasise on enforcement of 'force majeure' clause (a contract provision that relieves the parties from performing their contractual obligations when certain circumstances beyond their control arise, making performance inadvisable, commercially impracticable, illegal, or impossible) in the context of the pandemic. "We have urged the Central Government to safeguard the engineering industries from the impact caused by the escalation of prices of inputs," Rajappa Rajkumar, president of BHEL Small Industries Association, said.The election authorities are gearing up for the counting of votes cast in the simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh, scheduled to be held on June 4. The Collectors and Election Officers of Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli and Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) districts said on May 23 (Thursday) that their teams were ready for the counting of votes.
