‘Govt is doing its duty, accused have to prove their innocence’: Paneerselvam on raids against AIADMK leaders

Breaking his silence regarding the recent raids by the vigilance department against AIADMK leaders, OPS said that the government was doing its duty and that the accused also had a duty to prove their innocence.
Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam (OPS) on Saturday, broke his silence regarding the various raids happening against All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leaders in the state and said that the government was doing its duty and that the accused had to prove their innocence.
Recently, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted raids on 26 properties of former Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and SP Velumani, who are now part of the AIADMK faction led by Edappadi Palaniswami.
Speaking about the raids, OPS said, “The government is doing its duty, and those who have been accused have to prove their innocence.”
Further, talking about his ongoing spat with EPS and the power struggle in the party, OPS said, “AIADMK is the party made for the cadres and the cadres decide who will sit at the helm of the party and that is why we are fighting now.”
Replying to allegations of corruption against OPS, the Theni constituency MLA, said, “Amma has given me the CM's post twice and I was a very faithful cadre for Amma. My duty has always been to ensure that the party doesn't lose the core value for which MG Ramachandran (MGR) and Amma made this party."
