It is being speculated that the Pixel 5 has been discontinued to make way for the Pixel 6, which is scheduled to arrive in October this year.
Days after launching the Pixel 5a, Google has already discontinued the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G. The smartphones are listed on Google’s online store as sold out. It is being speculated that the Pixel 5 has been discontinued to make way for the Pixel 6, which is scheduled to arrive in October this year. The discontinuation of Pixel 4a makes perfect sense because the Pixel 5a is here now but Google is yet to launch a successor to the Pixel 5. This could also mean that Google is planning to launch the Pixel 6 ahead of its schedule. Google said in a statement that Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5 will be available till the stocks last. “With our current forecasts, we expect Google Store in the U.S. to sell out of Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 in the coming weeks following the launch of Pixel 5a (5G). These products will continue to be available through some partners while supplies last,” a company spokesperson told The Verge.
Samsung has been teasing its upcoming A-series devices since last week, without officially revealing their names.
